The larger version is called Farmor (paternal grandmother) and there are chairs named Faetter (Cousin), Tante (Aunt), Faster (Aunt) etc. The idea with the concept is to bring the family back in to the home and in to the living room. Also directly translated Mormor is pronounced and means “more more” in English, Farmor is “far more” and so on…

Mormor won the Danish Design Prize in 2007. But Johannes Torpe doesn’t believe in design prizes. He believe it takes up to much time and money to participate – and that’s not what design is all about… However when the producer HAY CPH told us that we where nominated – and when we won – we were of course both proud and happy……
