The Mormor Couch was a pitched assignment for HAY in 2006. The creation originated from the fascination of building a couch without a framework inside – only based on the potential of the foam. This construction makes the couch completely variable in length. The word Mormor means Grandmother in Danish and indicates that the furniture is a part of the Johannes Torpe Studios’ furniture family, which includes Fætter (cousin), Farmor (Grandmother, father’s side) and Tante (aunt). The Mormor couch won the Danish Design Award 2007.
